Working in Publishing 2017
An annual event for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, Working in Publishing 2017 offered an afternoon of advice and networking with industry professionals, including Brookes alumni. This year over 40 companies, and nearly 60 professionals, from all sectors of publishing participated in the speed-dating session.
Our headline speaker was Lisa Edwards, Publishing Director at Templar Publishing. Lisa has nearly twenty years’ experience in publishing, mostly in children’s publishing and licensing. Prior to joining Templar she worked for twelve years at Scholastic Children’s Books, where as Publishing & Commercial Director, she oversaw the publishing of the Hunger Games trilogy, the Horrible Histories series, the Tom Gates Series, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler picture books and The Golden Compass. From 2013 to 15 she moved into publishing for adults and was the Publisher at Carlton Books, managing the editorial team who create a list of sport, music, history and reference titles, including the FIFA World Cup and Tour De France publishing programmes, and a number of Imperial War Museum collaborations for the centenary of the First World War.
