Jari Silomaki at The Winchester Gallery

Fotonet and The Winchester Gallery are very pleased to be able to exhibit the two new bodies of work that Jari Silomaki was developing during his residency in Oxford this winter. Silomaki was hosted by Fotonet and Oxford Brookes on an International Research Residency.

Exhibition November  2 - December 16
"UK Weather Diary" is composed of 30 photographs taken in the UK, one for each day of the residency. This group is part of Silomaki's ongoing project "My Weather Diary" , some of which you can see here, in 'online exhibitions'.  http://www.fotonet-south.org.uk/exhibitions.php

"My Unopened Letters" is a series of photographs which tell stories. This is completely new work and will be launched at the Helsinki Photography Festival in early October.

"Telling Tales - Contemporary Narrative Photography" a symposium for photographers and researchers to be held in the Lecture Theatre at Winchester School of Art. Val Williams will be chairperson for the day. The speakers confirmed so far, are Jari Silomaki, Anna Fox, Roma Tearne and Kate Mellor.

"My Unopened Letters"
A new publication to be launched November 2nd is being designed and published by Fotonet and The Winchester Gallery. This hardback book will reproduce all the new work in the exhibition with a special text.
