Personal Profile

Lucy is an Associate Lecturer for the Distance Learning MA in Publishing at Oxford Brookes University. She completed both undergraduate and postgraduate Master’s degrees in History, before completing a PhD in the Publishing department at Oxford Brookes University.

Lucy has worked in writing and research, as a library assistant for the Bodleian Libraries, as a historical researcher for a specialist geophysics company, and currently as a Technical Writer. She remains an avid historian, interested in the nineteenth century and the World Wars.

Her experience as an Associate Lecturer began in 2013, assisting on several undergraduate and postgraduate modules, particularly those that prepared students for researching and writing their dissertations. She completed the PGTHE qualification and subsequently became a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.

Research

Lucy is an Associate Lecturer for the Distance Learning MA in Publishing at Oxford Brookes University. She is an experienced researcher, having completed her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Davis and Dr. Jane Potter on the Representation of the British Empire in the works of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge 1826-1846. The post is part-time and carried out remotely, while also working as a Technical Writer. Lucy also assists with marking for several undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

Lucy completed her PhD at Oxford Brookes University under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Davis and Dr. Jane Potter on the Representation of the British Empire in the works of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge 1826-1846.

Her background is largely in archival research, having volunteered in the University of Aberdeen’s Special Collections, before working in Special Collections at the Bodleian Libraries for several years. In addition, she worked in historical research for a specialist geophysics company.
