A recognised fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy, Alexandra is dedicated to supporting diversity in the media and broadening participation in media education as founder and Chair of the university’s Journalism Advisory Board. Within the courses, she ensures students have an accessible publishing platform for their journalism via hybridmag.co.uk which she developed and oversees.
Alexandra is also an Associate Editor of The Journal of Magazine Media, an External Examiner for the MA Publishing programme at LCC, University Arts London, and is responsible for delivering the NCTJ accreditation on the MA Journalism and the journalism pathway of BA Media, Journalism and Publishing. She is also currently doing an MA in Education at Oxford Brookes.
As an Editorial Consultant, Alexandra has created original publishing concepts and content, as well as provided editorial development strategy for a variety of start-ups, retail brands, and organisations such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
As the Programme Lead for Journalism and Publishing, Alexandra manages and leads the teaching teams and ensures the smooth running of the degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She specialises in journalism, teaching across a variety of BA and MA modules on programmes at OICP. These include Essential Journalism, Magazine Journalism, Brand Publishing, Lifestyle Journalism, Creative Entrepreneurship, and more. Alexandra’s academic career reflects her two decades of industry experience, having held several top-level editorial posts at leading publishers including Hearst UK, BBC Worldwide, TI Media, and ITP Media in the Middle East where she launched Harper’s Bazaar Arabia as Deputy Editor.
