Personal Profile

Rachel gained her MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes in 2021 and began teaching as an Associate Lecturer on the distance learning programme shortly afterwards.  Completing the master’s gave her a comprehensive understanding of the industry.  Her dissertation focused on how online word-of-mouth is used to build bestselling debut fiction, gave her invaluable insight into what makes or breaks fiction in a digital world. 

Previously in-house at HarperCollins UK developing award-winning fiction marketing campaigns, she now works across genres with clients including Bloomsbury, Canongate, Faber, HarperCollins, Hachette and Penguin Random House. To date, Rachel has won six Book Marketing Society awards to date for work across a variety of book campaigns.

Rachel is a freelance publishing professional with over eight years of experience and a passion for commercial fiction and non-fiction, digital marketing and most importantly, cats. She studied a BA in History at Lancaster and ended up working in marketing in her pursuit of a creative career. Rachel began her career in tech and events, before finally landing her first publishing role.
