Personal Profile

Judith’s professional career began at the BBC, where she worked as a broadcast journalist and radio producer. She moved into publishing in 2012 and has worked as a freelance editor for publishers including Oxford University Press, Hodder, and HarperCollins. She also works for the Cornerstones Literary Consultancy, mentoring authors. She has a special interest in children’s publishing and was the Editor of the Asian Children’s Book of the Year (Tiny Feet Tiny Shoes) in 2017. She published her first picture book in 2019 and is currently working on her second picture book.

Judith’s experience with distance learning tuition began with her MA course in English Language and Literature at the Open University in 2001. She gained her MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes in 2013. She completed the PGTHE teaching qualification and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (now called Advance) in 2018. She is also a professional member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading) and a member of the Society of Authors.

Judith is an Associate Lecturer for the distance learning MA Publishing at Oxford Brookes University. She is an experienced editor and radio producer teaching on the editorial and children’s publishing modules.  The post is part-time and carried out remotely from her home in Oxfordshire. Judith also assists with the Writing and Developing Content module for the BA Media, Journalism and Publishing course and is a guest lecturer for the MA Children’s Publishing module on the Oxford campus.
