Personal Profile

Antonia comes to OICP from a background in both industry - in journalism, PR and magazine editorial - and academia. Having previously worked for fashion magazines such as Vogue and GQ, Antonia also has a PhD in English Literature (with specialism in American Literature and Culture), and brings a variety of research publications in media theory, surveillance and screen studies. Her work bridges all three areas of the MJP degree programme, offering new ways to engage with media, texts and the digital.

Research

Surveillance: Race, Gender and the Body

This monograph explores the ways in which surveillance, AI and technology shape and influence the culture of today. Structured thematically, the book explores three key areas: surveillance and race; surveillance and gender; and surveillance and the body and intersects across literature, television and film studies, media and gaming to consider the many surveillant facets which shape our social and cultural reality. 

Women, birth, and motherhood during Covid

This interdisciplinary project on maternal healthcare and screen and surveillance technologies during the pandemic works with a range of specialists from medical backgrounds such as those working in the NHS, Psychiatry, and midwifery; to academics working in the humanities and social sciences such as in Cultural Studies, Technology, Anthropology and Sociology.
