Genevieve Cain

Associate Lecturer in Publishing

Personal Profile

Genevieve was drawn into the world of publishing quite by accident when she began working as an Editor and Content Producer for a digital global food brand while living in the US. Despite what seemed to be a detour from her career in the earth sciences, publishing has now achieved relevance in all aspects of her personal and professional life.

Genevieve gained her MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes in 2016 and began teaching as an Associate Lecturer on the course shortly afterwards. In 2018 she completed the PGTHE teaching qualification and became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (now called Advance). She is also a Member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading) and is a co-editor for the department’s Journal of Publishing Culture. Genevieve is particularly interested in scholarly publishing and the evolving landscape of knowledge outputs.

In addition to a BA in Geography, Genevieve also holds an MSc in Landscape Archaeology and is currently working towards a DPhil (Archaeology) at the University of Oxford (Kellogg College).

Genevieve is an Associate Lecturer for the distance learning MA Publishing at Oxford Brookes University and has been working in this capacity since 2016.
