Alumni - Emma Hawes, BA Publishing

Studying publishing at Oxford Brookes University has been one of the most rewarding, yet fun experiences of my life, and in some ways, the most life changing. Through the variety of lectures and seminars, I was able to develop and build on skills I already had, whilst discovering talents that I never knew I had. In Magazine Publishing, I was able to make the most of my creativity and have the freedom to express myself. Yet it was in Production and Project Management that I was finally able to make good use of my ability to organize and apply it to a publishing environment. ...

Since graduating from Brookes in June last year, I have been working for OUP as a Production Editor in the Law Department. What really stands out is the accuracy of the skills you get taught on the course, and how accurate they are to real life; the skills I learnt from Adrian Bullock on the Production Module, I use every day in my current role, and I have no doubt I will be using them for the rest of my career.

The staff on the course are simply amazing and you feel supported throughout the whole of your degree. Never before have I been in such a learning environment where the tutors seem so eager to help you learn and achieve your goals. I’d recommend the Publishing Course to anyone. Would I do it all again? Most definitely!
