Victoria Barnsley of HarperCollins receives honorary doctorate

On Friday 8 September Victoria Barnsley, CEO of HarperCollins UK, received an honorary doctorate from Oxford Brookes University.
Victoria Barnsley borrowed £80,000 from a friend to set up the independent publishing house, Fourth Estate. Under her leadership, Fourth Estate was the first winner of the Sunday Times Small Publisher of the Year award and was named British Book Awards Publisher of the Year. When Fourth Estate was acquired by HarperCollins Worldwide, Victoria became Chief Executive of HarperCollins UK. The company has since been named Publisher of the Year, making Victoria the only CEO to win it for two different companies.
