Success for Publishing lecturer at 2014 SU Teaching Awards

There was success for the second year running for Publishing at the annual Teaching Awards organized by the Students’ Union at Oxford Brookes, held on Wednesday 30 April 2014. Such awards are now run at almost every students’ union in the UK, aimed at rewarding best practice for teaching and dedication to higher education. In the category of Best Taught Module, Jane Potter won the award for Print and Society.

Jane’s enthusiasm and commitment to interactive learning – designed to stimulate discussion and understanding – was highly praised. The regular guest speakers, all experts in their field, and the field trips to places such as the Bodleian Library brought the subject alive to create an inspiring module. One student said the module was ‘a real learning experience that is exactly how I think university should be’.

In 2013, the same category was won by Leander Reeves (also nominated for an award in 2014) for the module Magazine Publishing, with one student commenting: ‘This has, hands down, been the most interesting, informative, useful and well executed module.’
