2024 British Book Design and Production Awards

The British Book Design and Production Awards took place on Wednesday 29 January 2025 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London.

As one of the most prestigious and popular literary events of the year, the British Book Design and Production Awards recognize the excellence of the British book design and production industry by celebrating the year’s best books. The awards are designed to represent everything that is best in British book design and are seen as the flagship event in the industry’s year.

The guest host for the evening was Anita Mangan. She has designed or illustrated nearly 100 books including two of her own: Bingo, An Illustrated Guide to Bingo Lingo and The Chinese Zodiac, A Seriously Silly Guide. She has created five bestselling children’s books, with two more releasing this year, including one for World Book Day, entitled The Fart That Broke World Book Day. Anita was well-placed to host an evening in celebration of the design and craft of physical books.

The Folio Society was the outright winner of the awards, finishing at the top of five categories including Photographic Books (The Planets), Best Jacket/Cover Design (The Underground Railroad), and Best British Book (Nineteen Eighty-Four) - also the coveted prize of Book of the Year for the same title.

Angus Phillips, Director of the Oxford International Centre for Publishing, presented the award in the Educational category, sponsored by Oxford Brookes, to Britannica's Encyclopedia Infographica from Britannica Books.
