After a BA and Masters in Literature she took the excellent one-year Diploma in Publishing at Oxford Brookes in 1992 to 1993 just as it was becoming a university.  Her career has largely been at OUP (22 years to date) though she also worked for an academic publishing marketing agency which recruited her direct from the diploma (the partners were teaching a module at the time) and for a while at Garnet Publishing in Reading around the edges of raising children.
