Starting (and Growing) your own Publishing Business

Quercus and its books won over 100 awards in its ten-year life, including Independent Publisher of the Year in 2008 and Publisher of the Year in 2011, and is best known for Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy. Quercus was recently sold to the UK’s second largest publishing group, Hachette.

In his twenty five years in publishing, Wayne has also worked at the Orion Publishing Group, Granada Media, Letts Educational and Elsevier in a variety of management, publishing and digital roles.

Wayne will be sharing his experiences of founding a publishing company including how to get started, finding and working with investors, financial and cash flow issues, handling rapid growth, maintaining an entrepreneurial culture, assessing expansion opportunities, and securing a sale.
