Did you know that less than 5% of books published are available in a format accessible to people with a sight problem? What can be done about this situation and what other formats can help publishers reach their full audience?
Join Richard Orme, the Head of Accessibility for the RNIB, as he shares his organization's role as an alternate format publisher. Working
hand-in-hand with other publishers, the RNIB can suggest ways in which they can improve their ability to be seen by all. But charities can only do so much and are just scratching the surface. In conjunction with the Right to Read Alliance, and continual government campaigning, the situation in the UK is improving.
As we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Louis Braille, let us think of the new technology that could 'herald a new dawn of access and open a new segment of the market for publishers'. (Orme)
